Tourism Cluster Development & Collaborative Networks
Our experience in building and facilitating networks runs deep. While our involvement in tourism cluster development in Ireland began in 2021, our roots in network facilitation stretch back to 2011, when we established and facilitated the Network for Enterprising Women. This was a group created to support female entrepreneurs through collaboration, peer development, and mutual encouragement. That early work taught us something we carry into every project today: the most powerful networks are built on trust, shared purpose, and consistent commitment.
Cluster Essentials — What Makes a Successful Tourism Cluster Group
Not all clusters are created equal. In our experience, the ones that truly thrive share a number of common characteristics:
- Trust is the foundation. Successful clusters are built on genuine relationships, not just shared geography.
- Good things take time. Developing strong, effective clusters is a long-term investment, not a quick fix.
- Vision must be shared. The most effective clusters are united by a common goal and a collective sense of direction.
- Commitment matters. Consistent, engaged membership is everything — the people who show up are the people who move things forward.
Our Current Tourism Cluster Groups
We are currently facilitating a number of tourism cluster groups across Ireland, many of which are in the early but exciting stages of development. Members are actively engaged in facilitated meetings, site visits, regional networking events, and learning journeys. These are designed to build confidence, spark collaboration, and strengthen wider community tourism development.
If you run a tourism business, or a business that intersects with tourism in any way, working collaboratively with others is not just beneficial, it can be genuinely transformative and sustainable for the long term.
Recent Highlights
We have recently been working with Hidden Heartlands and Longford County Council on a particularly meaningful initiative. Connect & Collaborate: Building Strong Tourism Networks is a facilitated networking event designed to bring rural tourism businesses together to share ideas, explore new collaborations, and collectively strengthen the tourism ecosystem across the region. It is exactly the kind of event that reflects what community tourism development should look like in practice. Think locally rooted, forward-thinking, and people-first.
Alongside this, we continue to facilitate a number of tourism cluster groups across Fermanagh and Omagh Council, supporting rural tourism businesses to connect, grow, and build something greater together.
